Son Julia’s noble ancestry
The rich history of Mallorca's most charming hotel
Hotel Son Julia derives its name from the Julia family, a noble family who owned vast tracts of land in Mallorca as well as the estate of Son Julia itself, which dates back to the 15th century. The Julia family was extremely wealthy; in 1523 the estate was valued at 7,000 pounds and by the 1890s it boasted of over 7,500 almond trees, 1,000 fig trees and many carob, olive and fruit trees. One of the heirs, Pascual Felipe de Togores, the 10th Count of Ayamans, played an important role in the neighbouring village of Llucmajor. In times of need, he offered to the less fortunate employment and food on the grounds of Son Julia.
Today, Son Julia Country House Hotel has been completely restored, keeping intact some original features such as the well and the building's stone archways of the building.
